Joseph Ferra has been providing counseling services for over 20 years. He began his career as a group counselor with probation and has continued working with adolescents, adults, and families in a wide variety of areas. He truly has a passion for helping people overcome individual obstacles in order to foster personal development and healthy relationships.
In 2004, Mr. Ferra received mediation training at UCLA and began his private practice, Family Mediation Associates, where he skillfully provides family reconciliation and divorce mediation services. Mr. Ferra has been honored to serve as the President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Kern County Bar Association and as a mediation Panelist for the Superior Courts in Kern and Los Angeles Counties.
Prior to being promoted to his current position as Executive Director of Aspire Counseling Services®, Mr. Ferra held the esteemed positions of Clinical Program Manager for the Department of Psychiatry, Kaiser Permanente, San Francisco and Ventura.
A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Mr. Ferra holds an Master’s of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from California State University Bakersfield.
In his spare time Joe enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing guitar, riding motorcycles, and engaging in activities that promote health and fitness.
Mark Taylor has been providing counseling services for over 15 years. He began his career as a case manager and group counselor of nonprofit organizations for social and mental health services, working with adolescents, adults, families and special needs children. He exudes a high level of compassion, empathy and cares for helping people move past their debilitating hurts and unhealthy habits as they pursue personal and relational health.
Prior to being promoted to his current position as Program Director of Aspire Counseling Services®, Mr. Taylor held the position of Executive Director for CASA of Kings County along with various social worker roles in other esteemed nonprofits serving the counties of San Luis Obispo, Kings, Tulare, and Fresno.
Mark has served in several community committees and board of director positions, including iMatter, Inc. for disenfranchised youth as well as Central Valley Recovery Services, an organization battling addiction.
Currently pursuing the designation of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Mr. Taylor graduates in July of 2019 with a Master’s of Arts Degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling along with an equivalency Master’s of Divinity from Pentecostal Theological Seminary, Cleveland, Tennessee.
Mark and his wife, Christy, pastor a local church in Grover Beach, CA. Together, they love to sing, travel and make lasting memories. Beginning Fall 2019., he will be studying to earn a D.Min. Degree.
